Sarawak chief minister Adenan Satem has said Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu( PBB) will get five of the 11 new state seats for the coming state election because it can win in all these seats.
“We have now 35 seats which we have always delivered without fail to the Barisan Nasional. I am sure we will continue to deliver,” he said at an Aidilfitri gathering organised by Kuching zone PBB here tonight.
Prime Minister Najib Razak and his wife, Rosmah Mansor, were among those present.
Adenan, who is also PBB president, said the state BN was ready for the state election which could be called “at any time in the next 10 months.”
“For now let us give the opposition a hard time and wear them out. Then we will call for the election,” he said in jest.
For the record, Sarawak now has 71 state seats. The Court of Appeal recently overturned a High Court decision and ruled that the 11 new seats proposed could be used in the coming state election.
PBB, according to Adenan, would increase it seats from the 35 now to 40 out of the 82 seats (71 + 11).
Meanhwile, Adenan also thanked Najib for his faith in appointing eight Sarawakians to his Cabinet.
“This is unprecendented in the history of the country and a great honour to the state.
“I would call on fellow Sarawakians to reject the opposition in the coming election to allow us to participate and strengthen the country’s administration,” he added.
